Background

While previously well known for his roles as a child actor, Nicholas Gledhill is more recently recognised for his regular appearances as an actor, singer and director around the Sydney independent theatre scene.

Nicholas has been playing regularly, in a duo with Josh Shipton, around the inner-west. He recently performed in the New Theatre production of "Women, Power and Culture - then and now". He also recently played in the "re-launch" production of "She Stoops To Conquer" by Oliver Goldsmith, for Payers in the Pub at the Harold Park Hotel - and directed a rehearsed reading of "The Dance of Death" by August Strindberg, for the Players in the Pub, in the Upstairs Room, at the Toxteth Hotel, Glebe.

He was also recently seen in the Sydney Fringe 2010, playing the role of Watch, in a play he wrote himself - "Time To Remember..." - which was part of a double-bill entitled "Closing Time" produced by SpaceCraft Productions.

Nicholas studied at the Birmingham School of Speech and Drama (now the BSA) for three years and, after working in the UK for some time, returned home to Australia to play John Darling in the Jim Henson's Creature Shop production of "PAN". He also played Edgar and Sebastian in the Shakespeare Globe Centre Australia's production of King Lear and The Tempest and Rosencrantz in Hamlet.

He began acting at the age of 6 when he played the central role (PS) in "Careful He Might Hear You" for which he was nominated Best Actor in 1984.

Nicholas has also worked as a Stage Combat Master and Choreographer, an acting teacher and is a prize winning writer (ICI/STC Young Writers Competition).

"Fan" page and Video for Odd Spaces

While preparations for the second performance of Odd Spaces are underway (details of first performance, here) - some work on a second chapter to the story have also begun...

To bring both our old and our potential audience together, and keep them up-to-date, we started a Facebook fan page.

*** Become a fan of Odd Spaces today ***.

It turns out there was some boot-leg video taken of the show in February - so here it is...

As Tom gets taken down to the Strawberry Fields insane asylum, the police found it *hilarious* to sing this little ditty to him:

... again, here's another one of the unofficial videos from the original performance of Odd Spaces - at this point, Tom has made the obvious mistake of asking one of his fellow inmates "Who's that over there? Why do they call him Mr. Raccoon":

... more videos from the original performance of Odd Spaces - Tom's final escape plan, to get away from Strawberry Fields, goes horribly wrong, as he finds himself, accidentally, reaching escape velocity:

... this is my favourite, I think, of the videos from the first night of Odd Spaces... you may have heard this song before - but not this way:

Nicholas was offered a role today, in a student film - "Guardian Angel" by Nicolette Serfozo... a small role, James is the downtrodden husband of Bella who appears briefly in the movie, in the cafe scene.

Nicolette Serfozo is in her last year as a student at The International Film School Sydney. "Guardian Angel" is her final project.

"Guardian Angel" is a story is about the blind widow Patrick who struggles to accept his blindness because of how society views him therefore he decides to get a tattoo in an attempt to integrate. He sees the world through the kooky descriptions of his mature 9 year old daughter Angelica with a fertile imagination who only describes the world she wants him to see.

Through her guiding hands Patrick undertakes a journey of coming to terms with his identity as a blind man and lets go of the past fear, loss and mourning caused by the death of his wife in the car accident which also blinded him.
